We are currently undergoing site expansion and are looking to recruit a Building Services Mechanical Engineer to join our established facilities team.

    This is a great opportunity for a candidate looking to broaden their mechanical skills within a large and upscaling semiconductor manufacturer. This role provides a permanent position for a candidate with a strong engineering background. Reporting into the Engineering operations Manager, the Facilities Engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and operation of the facilities mechanical systems. The Nexperia site is 28 acres with plans for refurbishment, new layouts and expansion of our multiple fabrication plants.

    The successful person will operate alongside the facilities electrical and controls engineer to ensure effective integration of new and existing systems and to identify improvement opportunities and to implement these in order to enhance the cost, reliability or stability of the systems. The role will require liaison with internal technicians as well as the management of external contractors and other support staff.

What you will do

  • Carry out capacity and reliability study’s on various systems including but not limited to HVAC and pumped systems
  • Track quality and reliability performance of all facilities systems, e.g. Vacuum, HVAC, cooling and heating systems, CDA, etc
  • Define and review preventative maintenance regimes for systems to maintain and improve uptime and stability
  • Working on and managing projects from start to finish
  • Managing contractors  and internal resource
  • Contribute to a variety of site improvement projects involving mechanical systems
  • Support in ensuring compliance on all applicable Facilities related legal and other requirements
  • Support in implementing systems and improvements in terms of Facilities Management
  • Project design, selection of equipment and implementation of changes for all building services including boilers, chillers, heat exchangers, air handling systems, pumps, etc
  • Understand flow rates of various medium.  Calculation and specification of pipework and ductwork sizes to ensure optimum flow rates whilst minimising install and operational costs
  • Lead and participate in various projects including cost reduction and system improvement projects as well as participating in maintaining the sites external certication to MCERT and ISO standards

What you will need

Essential

  • Minimum HNC Mechanical Engineering OR equivalent relevant experience
  • Strong engineering background with methodical approach to problem solving
  • Experience of plant and equipment commissioning and decommissioning
  • Project design and management experience
  • HVAC systems and ancillary equipment knowledge
  • Ability to occasionally work outside of standard office hours

Desired

  • Experience or knowledge in compressed ir systems, vacuum systems, extraction systems and DI Water systems.
  • Knowledge of the Construction, Design and Management (CDM) regulations
  • NEBOSH Occupational Health and Safety Certificate (desirable)
  • Compressed Air Systems, Vacuum and extraction
  • Effluent Treatment Systems & DI Water systems
  • BEMS and PLC/DCS and other Control Systems associated with Facilities Plant
  • Familiarity with PSSR, LOLER, PUWER legislation (preferred)
  • Familiarity with the concept of lead and lag indicators to monitor and improve system performance
  • Understanding of cleanroom working protocol and UHP systems
